White muscle disease (WMD) is an acute muscle necrosis caused by a deficiency in selenium and/or vitamin E.
Affected goats tend to be reluctant to move, weak, exhibit poor growth, and muscular lesions. WMD also causes abortion and stillbirths in pregnant does.
